Amber Brown is an MA student in Cinema and Media Studies at USC. Her research is on video games, online communities, and how the form of play can change the conversation on how games can be received and communicated. Her research includes the use of participatory media to investigate questions of identity, availability, and collaboration within the digital game space. Her additional interests include both digital and analog game studies, and Afrofuturism. Her current project involves direct research on YouTube and Twitch gaming streaming and communities. After earning her MA, Amber hopes to pursue as career in working with online communities as an advocate and community manager. Specifically, she hopes to use what she has learned in her research for community outreach and interactive collaboration.
